Linux Beginners SIG, June 2013, Mint 15

June 11, 2013
6:00 pmto9:00 pm

The June meeting of the Linux SIG will be this Tuesday, the 11th, at the usual time and place. 8109 Greenslope Drive, 6 PM informal and 7 PM discussion. Calories and coffee will be provided.

This month, I suppose to nobody’s surprise, I’m going to talk about the new version of Linux Mint. It installed perfectly smoothly, dual booting with my existing Kubuntu 13.04, and is working perfectly smoothly. (At least the Cinnamon flavor is; I haven’t installed Mate. (As I mentioned before, Cinnamon is a fork of the newer Gnome 3 while Mate is a fork of the discontinued Gnome 2.

I have DVDs to hand out of both flavors in both 64- and 32-bit versions. Come one, come all, and see the Linux that’s getting all the great reviews. Don Jones sent me this review, so take a look at it if you get a chance.

See the Linux Beginners SIG page for location, contacts, etc
