Linux Beginners, March 2010, Browsers

This month I plan to talk about and demonstrate browsers. In particular, I’ll
show Swiftfox, which is a version of Firefox compiled strictly for Linux,
Opera, and Google Chrome, and maybe even throw in Ubuntu’s “vanilla” browsers,
Konqueror for KDE and Epiphany for Gnome. As one would expect, they are
MOSTLY the same with respect to rendering web pages, but with the exception of
Konqueror and Epiphany, the other browsers are all faster than Firefox.
I’ve got a CD of Ubuntu Lucid Alpha 3 if anybody is interested. It still has
the “old” color style, though. As you may have read, Lucid will have a very,
very different color scheme for Gnome compared to the brown/orange that has
defined Ubuntu for a long time.
As usual, carbs and caffeine will be on hand.
