Getting Started with Mobile Web Development


Presenter: Dr Edward ‘Ned’ Horvath


We’ll provide a brisk overview of what you need to know to create a successful application, particularly those targeting mobile platforms like smartphones and tablets.

  • Questions to ask and answer before you start
  • UX design for mobile devices and the web
  • Building portable WebApps
  • Internet protocols
  • WebApp Wrappers
  • “Native” Development Ecosystems


Dr Horvath received his bachelors’ degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Master of Arts and Ph.D. from Princeton University, all in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science. His early research was in the complexity of algorithms, particularly related to sorting and optimal scheduling.
